Ten on a Five Scale

"This artist, & particularly this album, are the reasons I DON'T LISTEN TO THE RADIO anymore! This should have been the #1 album of 1999, & won the Grammy for Album of the Year, but no one in The States got to hear it!(Also the reason I pay no attention to the Grammys anymore)

This is one of the best albums EVER recorded - by ANYONE! Her voice is seductive yet powerful, with a growl like no one I've heard before. Her highlites are in all the right places, but her soulful delivery blows right past any air of formulaic pop to a hard-rock edge reminiscent of Sass Jordan or even an early Doro Pesch! Her poetry is intelligent & full of imagery, harkening back to the best of fellow-Canadian Joni Mitchell while rocking hard when the srory dictates. "The Best of Me" is as rockin' as anything you'll ever hear; "Too Little, Too Late" is one of those ballad-that-becomes-a-rocker masterpieces that every lame-oid on the radio wishes they could sing; "Give Up Giving In" should have been on every lite-rock station in America, & should have won a Grammy for Song of the Year! But the best song is the closer, "Out of Bounds", which is, in my opinion, THE BEST SONG IN THE HISTORY OF RECORDED MUSIC - BAR NONE!!!

On my personal list of Top 10 Albums of All Time, this is SECOND only to Airplane's "Crown of Creation". 'Nuff said!"

"I have owned Amanda Marshall's first album for years and finally purchased Tuesday's Child. Well, it sounds somewhat similar to the first album, but the writing on this one is lifeless. It seems that she's trying to reach for what she had on her premiere, but she can't quite pull it off. Her vocals are as powerful as always with her gritty voice and catchy acoustic guitar.

I listen to her first album, but Tuesday's Child is just background music."
What are you singing?

""Tuesday's Child" has the songs on it that some (USA) Americans might find familiar, but not know why. Two of the albums most inspirational cuts have been featured on Soundtracks. "I believe in you" was featured on "Touched by an Angel". It is one of the most touching songs of loyalty and faith in friendship that I know of. Similarly, "Ride" was featured on a movie that I loved "The Replacements" and again it is a song that moves me very much "When the world that you've created leaves you feelin' tired and jaded, under appreciated, I'll be your ride"

But there are other wonderful songs that you might not have heard.

Heartbreaking songs of loss ("Why don't you love me?", "Givin' up Givin' In", "Too little too late"), Romantic ("Love lift me"," Right Here All Along"), and even diversity ("Shades of gray").

So here's the deal if you like singer songwriter music, here is a great album from a great talent.
