"I write novels for a living and so does Al Stewart. The difference is that he sets his to music. Lyrically and melodically beautiful, full of evocative imagery and significant allegory, "A Beach Full of Shells" is one of Al's best efforts to date, an amazing accomplishment given his already impressive body of work. If you're a fan of Al already, rejoice in this dazzling achievement and the stunning realization that the man's talents haven't dissipated even one iota over his long and brilliant career. If you're not a fan, give a listen and discover what you've been missing. You won't be disappointed.Devil's Brew"
One of Al's best.

"You know how some artists, when they start out, they are hungry, put out their best work, and over the years have a good song here and there, but the fire is no longer there. This is far from the case with this album. This is one of the best of Al's 17 albums. You can feel the wisdom of the years in his songs from Katherine of Oregon (the title is a play on word's (C)Katherine of Aragon - the first wife of Henry VIII) to Gina in the King's Road - which if you see that performed live it is very light and uplifting and has a great beat. Many of the other songs stick in your head for days. I hope Al puts out another album soon.
