CD Reviews

Selection of A. Celentano

"I know this artist very well. First time I heard him in 1969.Since that time I have had almost all of his albums. This album is his early staff 1969-1975. Songs are fast in rock'n'roll style. If you like this kind of music this will be good one. However,I think there is a beter albums by him (a lot) One more thing. This guy is the king of italian pop.No one can compare with him by a long shot. Ramazoti,Zuccero,Umberto Tozzi and so on will go to the CD store for a trade or credit after you will get to know his music realy well. This is not my opinion I've heard it from italian guys when I was in Italy. Not all of his albums are good, you need to know which ones to buy. So study it."

"Celentano has to be the all-time king of Italian rock, and I don't think anyone can take the crown from him. His energetic, rambunctious, masculine performances are a treat to hear in this compilation, that though uneven in parts, is a great overview of his recordings from '58 through '63.
The highlights on disc # 1 are "A New Orleans", a rousing cover of "Jailhouse Rock", and the irresitible, melodic "Non Esiste L'Amor".
Disc # 2 really shines. The first 4 tracks are marvelous and take me back to my stay in Italy, where I heard these tunes played at full volume wherever I went...there's also the terrific cover of "Personality", the calypso "Man Smart", and the superb vocal on "Furore".
The packaging is minimal, with both discs on a center swinging flap, and the total running time is 1:24:22.
These are mono recordings that haven't been remastered in any way, and have a slight fuzzines in the sound, but the content is bursting with Adriano's fabulous style and it's a must have for Italian rock fans."
