Synopsis

Album Description
This highly anticipated second electronic album was produced, written, and recorded by artist/producer/composer/remixer The Angel and features vocalists Angie Hart (Frente), Navigator (The Freestylers/Asian Dub Foundation), Monday Michiru, DJ Collage (Meat Beat Manifesto), and Karen Grant. The Angel orchestrates an evocative melange of hooky vocal harmonies over a shadowy mix of pulsing instrumentation and frantic beats, encompassing drum and bass, dub, and trip hop. Imagine the down tempo melancholy of Massive Attack, the melodies of Everything But The Girl, and the dub vibes of Thievery Corporation combined with Angel's unique sound and you'll understand why this album will reach a wider audience than ever.

CD Reviews

Superbly produced music from The Angel
beatswithbrains | New York, NY | 04/29/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Covert Movements is another testament to the depth of The Angel's talent.Blending dub, trip-hop and drum n bass, this album creates a cinematic soundscape that is atmospheric and evocative. stand out tracks include Moving Shadows, Still Burnin and Riddim Supastar. Even more impressive, for an electronic album, is that the lyrical content is noteworthy and thought-provoking in itself, bringing together the musical themes in one
cohesive project. Definitely recommended."
UNBELIEVEABLY COOL SONIC LANDSCAPE!!

"The Angel has created an unbelievably cool sonic landscape with this new 60 Channels project. Moby, Fat Boy Slim and Massive Attack better watch their backs because COVERT MOVEMENTS clearly stands toe-to-toe with those artists's finest work. The most amazing aspect of this music is how it consistently stirs the listener's soul. It achieves this in an evocative, unexpected and emotional way. These compositions are sophisticated and thoughtful while at the same time being wicked, hot dance music. An original musical voice is among us everybody. Time to discover the Angel's work. Do yourself a favor, buy this record."

"The Angel is just rippin' it... I already have No Gravity, then I read about a new album in Remix Mag by her alter ego 60 Channels and had to check it out. This album takes you on a serious journey through experimental beats with drum 'n bass, dub, roots, trip hop all adding up to some well crafted songs with lots of really talented vocalists - some I haven't heard of before like Karen Grant, DJ Collage and Rain Phoenix, but I'm impressed. Some of my favorites include Riddim Supastar (a strong opener), Black Rush, Still Burnin' and Once Inna Life... great dub style horns on that last one. Seems like The Angel was hell bent on pushing her own limits further on this outing and it works... Well done."
