"This seems to be some sort of promotional teaser or something i don't quite understand. The works here are not presented in thier entirety. Avoid. My friend discovered this fact only after buying it. There should be some sort of indication on the track listing as such.If you want to hear Arditti that will blow you away, buy the first disc in the new sony Ligeti series or Xenakis 1: Musique De Chambre (Montaigne)."
Arditti Quartet plays superb modern music

"By commisioning and playing superbly quartets from so many great composers, the Arditti Quartet may well have done more for contemporary classical music even than Boulez's Ensemble InterContemporain. In fact, the string quartet has become, arguably, the single most important musical form in the 20th-Century, and the Arditti have had a lot to do with it. To those who object to the above statement, I ask: through what other form could you assemble so nearly complete a history of musical styles in the century? Think of the quartets from Bartok, Berg, Schoenberg, Webern, Ives, and then later Carter, Ligeti, Kurtag, Lutoslawski, Xenakis, Cage, Nono, Dutilleux, Ferneyhough, etc. I could go on, but the point should be clear to those who know this incredible variety of stellar music, always played both passionately and accurately by the Arditti."
