So, I have a 2-disc set and another single disc, both with all art, and even without cardboard stiffeners I'm over the pre-printed 3 ounce weight. What do I do now?

I slapped a couple of stamps on, and I'm hoping it goes through. Swap gave me $1.10 to send it, and the PO website said it needed $1.84.

Thickness is more important than weight. If it's more then 1/4" thick, it becomes a parcel and costs a lot more than $1.10. I would think that 3 discs with art would be more than 1/4" thick.

Actually, I thought about that too, but it was clearly less than 1/4", so no worries there.

However, I'm not sure how weight could be less important. If I went over 3 oz. and did not kick in the extra postage there's a good chance I would have found it back in my mailbox tomorrow. Not something I want to deal with.

I think the system simply calculated for two discs instead of three.

Was it over 3 ounces or under? Up to 3 ounces is $1.13 (including the non-machinable surcharge). Up to 4 ounces would be $1.63

Hopefully it won't come back. I've received CDs that had no postage whatsoever. Good luck.

It has $2.08 on it, and came in just under 4 ounces. In theory it should be fine, but this is the postal service we're talking about. Seems there's as many opinions as employees. I shipped out 15 separate orders today, and I figure it will be a small miracle if they all get through undamaged.

The Help doc about pre-printed postage tries to be very up-front about that traders "should" be weighing and adjusting for reality -- though I don't know if as many of us have postal meters at home as have printers at home.  I think the answer is that you are "supposed to" be weighing and seeing how the postage amount adjusts accordingly, and there we have it.  All packages, like all CDs, are not equal in weight.

Yeah, after joining swapacd earlier this year, checking the dates it appears I lasted a grand total of 9 days before buying an accuteck postage scale from amazon for $17. Best peace-of-mind purchase I've made in terms of my fairly heavy swapacd activity. (I also quite enjoy the self-inking "Non-Machinable" stamp I picked up for $10 in that same amazon order.)
