re "As far as sending to inactive members, our system is set up to automatically mark a CD received if it's sent to an account where the member has not logged in for over 20 days."

That's really helpful to know!  I don't think I have ever seen that spelled out like that before.  Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Jean --

The help docs say this, under Posting CDs > Is my CD okay to post here?

If your CD is an original and playable music CD, it can be swapped here.

AudioBOOKS are not permitted at SwapaCD; they can be swapped at paperbackswap.com, our sister site for swapping books.

-----------------------------

But I think you are asking because these are not "Audibooks", but maybe not quite music CDs either, right?

If they are in the SwapaCD database, then the answer is probably yes, list away.  If they are not in the database, I can't imagine anyone would have an issue with them being listed here in the SwapaCD Bazaar, but on the other hand PaperbackSwap has its own Bazaar, also, so there's that possibility, too.

That's my opinion, anyhow.

Happy trading --

ICB

Agreed. Even if somehow it never gets acknowledged, the system is no-fault; everyone gets their credit and/or money back-- just let it runs its course.

For what it's worth, printed-postage gives you a way to get instant-credits as soon as you mark "mailed", if that's a concern, for the future.

The Help doc about pre-printed postage tries to be very up-front about that traders "should" be weighing and adjusting for reality -- though I don't know if as many of us have postal meters at home as have printers at home.  I think the answer is that you are "supposed to" be weighing and seeing how the postage amount adjusts accordingly, and there we have it.  All packages, like all CDs, are not equal in weight.

Still problematic for anyone else? I haven't received a single email notification since May 13.  Last I heard from the Team, the problem was fixed, but it sure is not.  I just sent a query about the progress of this issue.

Note to fellow traders (because I forgot this, myself):  your messages via SwapaCD -- from the site and from your fellow traders --  are also cc'd to the "Club Communications" page.  That isn't going to help you unless you log in and come to the site to find them, but it's good to know.

Definitely let the Team know. I reported it, but at one point the response was along the lines of "nobody else has said anything" -- but if you are not getting emails -- especially wishes granted -- you're hardly going to know it if, except by mental telepathy.

I did get a wish-granted and I only knew about it because I happened to visit the site.

I did get confirmation that the problem was being addressed, but yes, there WAS a problem with emails.

I'm noticing that no "CD requested by You" messages are coming through via email since last night.  Ihave requested 12 titles: 5 yesterday (with confirmation email) and 7 today (with no email) -- I wonder if something odd is going on.

Triakel - Songs From 63 Degrees N

Link style="width:250px;height:241px;" />

This is very pure, unadorned traditional music of "quiet but intense ethos". Triakel is a Swedish folk band, specializing in songs from the Jämtland area, but the band also includes songs by contemporary folk artists.

Chris Nickson/Allmusic reviews it below -- and I think he's got it right:

"...The mix of fiddle, harmonium, and voice creates a bristling darkness, especially on the brooding "Min Docka," where singer Emma Härdelin rolls her Rs with great glee.

...There's an obvious love of the music, and in presenting it, never seeking the darkness, but teasing it out where it occurs. It's certainly not evident in the country dance of "Bli Som Far," which glides around the floor, or "Tordyveln," which morphs into a polka. However, it can't be denied that wonderful as Härdelin is, she shines best on material like "Barnamorderskan," where tragedy is all too apparent. Triakel continue to grow as masters of their craft and more -- at times positively inspired."

If you're  like me, and you like your great Swedish bands -- you might like to know the lineup: Triakel was founded in 1995 by Emma Härdelin (Garmarna), Kjell-Erik Eriksson (Hoven Droven) and Janne Strömstedt (former Hoven Droven member).

TAKEN -- thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, I have a pair of unusual IMPORT CDs by Italian Darkwave/Neo-Classical/group "Lupercalia".

"Florilegium" is on Equilibrium label, known for Darkwave, Neo-Classical, Medieval, Dark Folk and Ambient sounds, and includes haunting vocals from classical soprano Claudia Florio.  "Soehrimnir"  is on World Serpent, and is fully instrumental.

To sum up the sound, gothicparadise.com says about Lupercalia's Florilegium: "Fans of classical-oriented ethereal music along the lines of sToa and Dead Can Dance should enjoy this album."  Definitely.   The  music is grounded in classical traditions, built around the classical guitar of Riccardo Prencipes and classical violinist Pierangelo Fevolas.

These unusual discs are not in the database. PM me if you're interested.

thank you!
