    Individual Bio

Ronald Corp is an active choral conductor in London. He is the founder and musical director of the New London Orchestra and New London Children's Choir and musical director of the London Choral Society and the Highgate Choral Society. Corp founded the New London Orchestra in 1988 and since then has conducted them in concert in London and in the major British music festivals. His programs focus on choral music from the romantic period to the present and he has commissioned numerous new works for the ensemble. Corp has led the New London Children's Choir in concerts, recordings, and television broadcasts, often in collaboration with the major London orchestras. He has appeared as guest conductor with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, the Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brussels Radio and Television Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta. He has recorded for Hyperion. As a composer, Corp has received numerous commissions for works for choir and orchestra. In 1989, the Highgate Choral Society commissioned him to write And All the Trumpets Sounded, which was later published by Stainer and Bell. In 1994, the London Choral Society performed his cantata Laudamus. His Elizabethan Lyrics (4) has been published by Oxford University Press, for whom Corp edits choral music. His largest work, Cornucopia, has received several performances since its premiere in 1997. Also in 1997, his piano concerto was premiered by Julian Evans with the New London Orchestra. Corp is the author of -The Choral Singer's Companion, published by Batsford. ~ Robert Adelson, All Music Guide
