Album Review

Part of the Axe Killer label's "Back to Black Collection," 1987/Slip of the Tongue collects the Whitesnake albums of the same name in their entireties with bonus tracks housed in a slick black sheath. 1987, also known as Whitesnake, was a breakout record for the group, scoring three Top Ten hits with "Still of the Night," "Is This Love," and "Here I Go Again," while 1989's Slip of the Tongue, despite boasting two decent hits ("Fool for Your Loving" and "The Deeper the Love") suffered from the hair metal genre's dwindling popularity. Fans looking for the best of both worlds would be better off with 1994's Whitesnake's Greatest Hits. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
