Album Review

Out of the seemingly thousands of albums and collections that Willie Nelson has released over the years, it seems amazing that he has only done a couple of christmas albums, although given the relative lackluster quality of those holiday releases, maybe it's a good thing he hasn't done more than he has. This set, drawn mostly from 1997's Hill Country Christmas, isn't anything extraordinary, although it does feature two decent Nelson originals, the dramatically maudlin "Pretty Paper" and the atmospheric "El Ni�o," plus a fun duet with Gene Autry on "Here Comes Santa Claus." ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
