Album Review
What self-respecting rocker could not fall in love with this album? Thoroughly inspired by the classiest of classic (mostly British) rock, with a big, brilliant sound, lyrics that catch your ear, and songs that stick, TheErthMoovsAroundTheSun should explode like a supernova across the cluttered galaxy of rock revivalists. And here's the reason: as beholden as Terry Sullivan is to rock's glory years, he's not so blinkered as to believe that the only things worth hearing were recorded by '70s rock heroes. Hey, great things were going on in the previous decade, incendiary sounds were blazing across the punk scene on both sides of the Atlantic, and even more modern music has interesting things to offer the discerning listener. And Sullivan is certainly that, trawling far and wide through the star-strewn landscape and down into the underground. Intriguingly, Sullivan wrote these songs at the end of the '70s, but he's been reworking them ever since, until he finally reached this apotheosis. Glitter-strewn rockers, r&b rollers, synth-strewn poppers, atmospheric power ballads, punk-fired stompers, heaving blues, even country-hip-hop hybrids, Sullivan weaves all that and more into his songs, while never losing the real rock feel of the music. For those who haven't fallen in love with an album since Diamond Dogs or Sticky Fingers, for those disappointed that today's rock sounds great, but the lyrics leave much to be desired, for those who think no-one can equal their idols and that there's nothing new under the sun, think again. Believe this: one listen, and the earth will move. ~ Jo-Ann Greene, All Music Guide
