Album Review
You can be certain of one thing: that any compilation on the Bear Family label will be solid, not only in terms of tracks but presentation, historical data, and great sound. This comp by the Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis, is no exception. There are 33 cuts here, recorded between 1957 and 1977 and licensed from Sun or Mercury/Smash. Sure, some of his WEA material is missing, but most everything else from the Mercury era, with the possible exception of "What Made Milwaukee Famous," is here: "Breathless," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "Great Balls of Fire," "Real Wild Child (Wild One)" (to hopefully help everyone forget Iggy Pop's utterly horrific version), "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee," "Good Rockin' Tonight," "Pink Pedal Pushers," "High School Confidential," and other great country songs -- like his stellar version of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee." Highly recommended. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
