Album Review
A trimmed-down version of the three-disc Platinum Collection box set issued no more than three months prior, this Gold edition compiles 34 of the Scorpions' best performances, chart-topping hits, and fan favorites. Obviously, anyone who has purchased the Platinum edition -- or even earlier box sets from the group -- does not need to purchase this set. However, anyone looking for a good solid document of the band's evolution from its early years to the present day should check this out. It has all of the well-known singalongs ("Rock You Like a Hurricane," "No One Like You," "Winds of Change") and a generous portion of fan favorites. It's not as exhaustive as the Platinum edition or 2004's Box of Scorpions -- but that's definitely a good thing for those just now discovering the band, as it trims away most of the unnecessary filler. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
