Album Review
Released in 1990, Garfunkel: Best Of is a good summary of Art Garfunkel's solo career, even if it doesn't feature all of his charting hits. For instance, "I Shall Sing," a Top 40 song from his first album, is missing, which may irritate some casual fans (as well as completists). Still, this winds up being a very good overview of his solo years, since it touches on the rest of his hits -- such as "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Break Away," "(What A) Wonderful World," and "A Heart in New York" -- are all here, along with a couple of Jimmy Webb songs. Since this hits collection winds up showing the weaknesses of Garfunkel's solo material, it's a representative cross-section of his career, but it derives its greatest strength by just being a solid singles sampler. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
