Choo Choo Coming is a reissue of the 1998 Starday CD Don't Cheat in Our Hometown, a budget collection of King recordings this seminal
bluegrass duo waxed between the late '50s and 1962, many of which originally appeared on singles. King thoroughly covered
the Stanley Brothers' output for the label with two box sets, The Early Starday-King Years 1958-1961 and The King Years 1961-1965, which contain all of these recordings and much more. Choo Choo Coming is aimed at the truck stop and gas station crowd, casual buyers, and fans on limited budgets. Even serious collectors who feel compelled to collect every release bearing the
Stanley name will find little of interest in the packaging, which is, in typical King fashion, minimal. The program is brief, clocking in at a little over 20 minutes, but the music is very good. "Choo Choo Coming" and "Riding That Midnight Train" are the only train songs despite the locomotive cover art and title. Choo Choo Coming, with its brief sampling of
the Stanley Brothers, is a bargain only at a bargain price. ~ Greg Adams, All Music Guide
