Album Review
The SideOneDummy debut of L.A.'s Go Betty Go is punk-pop in short targeted bursts, hooky like Tsunami Bomb but with a steely -- dangerous? -- serrated edge. "It's Too Bad" finds its raised fist in the dynamic between Betty Cisneros' economic chording and drummer Aixa Vilar -- there's lead shouter Nicolette Vilar, too, but Go Betty Go is more unified hit squad than the usual lead-singer-plus-band setup. (The prominent and impressive supporting harmonies further illustrate this.) Highlights include "Son Mis Locuras," which begins with a nod to Los Angeles' funk metal history before whipping into the song's muscular punk en espaņol main section, as well as the giddy Blink-a- Go-Go bop "C'Mon." ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
