Album Review
One in a galaxy of Nina Simone collections containing material from the same period (the Philips years of the mid-'60s), Universal Masters Collection includes far less of interest than most. Although the first half includes many of her best mid-'60s performances -- "I Loves You, Porgy," "Mississippi Goddam," "I Put a Spell on You" -- the second half is scattershot, taking nearly all of its material from a pair of disappointing albums, 1964's Wild Is the Wind and 1965's High Priestess of Soul. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
