Album Review

This pairing of PiL's first two albums -- 1978's Public Image and the following year's Metal Box (known as Second Edition in the U.S.) -- was part of EMI's "Double Original" series in 2003, which packaged two discs together for the price of one. From a strictly value-conscious standpoint, this is obviously a thrifty way to get two of PiL's most thrilling and anti-commercial albums (and two of the finest post-punk albums made during its 1978-1982 reign), but those who value good packaging will want to buy the two albums separately. No bonus tracks are added to either disc, and the running order of the second disc adheres to Second Edition's sequential tweaking of Metal Box. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
