Album Review

Recorded during 1945 and 1946, this set of studio transcriptions from June Christy includes many excellent performances. The disc is trumped, however, by the same label's competing collection, Complete Capitol Small Group Transcriptions, which includes everything found here plus five tracks and has superior sequencing. Miss Christy is especially misty on these small-group sides, getting that faraway glimmer in her voice while singing "Don't Worry 'Bout Me," "September in the Rain," and even "Make Love to Me." ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
