Album Review

Like 2006's Hip-O collection of the same name, 2003's Gold trims away the fat from the Scorpions vast arsenal of material and renders it into a palatable two-disc set. For casual fans, any of the myriad single-disc collections will suffice, as they all boast a fairly complete list of radio hits ("Rock You Like a Hurricane," "No One Like You," "Winds of Change," "Big City Night"), but listeners looking for a little more sting for their buck (if 29 tracks still doesn't suffice, there is always 2006's triple-disc Platinum Collection) won't be disappointed by this fine retrospective of Germany's greatest hard rock export. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
