Album Review
Peggy Lee's Love Songs features some of her most romantic performances from her years at Decca, including her lively rendition of "I've Got You Under My Skin," the dreamy "Love Letters," and the sweet, string-laden "You Go to My Head." Lee's elegance shines on jazzier tracks such as "You're My Thrill" and "Sugar (That Sugar Baby of Mine)," while more pop-oriented performances like "I Never Knew," "I've Grown Accustomed to His Face," and "Crazy in the Heart" showcase the breadth that made her a legend. Though the collection doesn't feature many of her definitive tracks -- from her Decca era or in general -- Love Songs is still an enjoyable, and of course romantic, sampling of her work. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
