XTC are notorious for releasing a torrential amount of "for hardcore fans only" products (all of the Fuzzy Warbles volumes come to mind), but they may have outdone themselves with Waspstrumental, an instrumental version of 2000's Wasp Star (Apple Venus, Pt. 2). Long admired as immaculate craftsman in the studio, Wasp Star was resplendent with clever parts and hooks galore, all of which grow tedious without the group's similarly slaved over vocal takes.
