Album Review

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe Innerzone. Vidna Obmana (aka Dirk Serries) and Steve Roach have outdone themselves. Indeed, they are the only ones who could. This CD is a departure from the norm for Roach and Serries. Their collaborations have been steeped in the traditions of electro-tribal ambience. This disc certainly bears those influences -- and so much more. These ambient masters have done so much -- both together and as solo artists -- that it becomes difficult to enumerate. And it has become illogical and unfair to compare these gentlemen to anyone else or to compare anyone to them. In e-music, these masters lap the field. Innerzone has echoes of desert ambience, rhythmic ambience, pure space music, and electro-tribal ambience. Roach's classic synth riff -- the wash and swoosh -- is here in abundance. It adds another installment to the e-music symphony that Roach has been developing and constructing for years. Serries has contributed much to that symphony and he contributes more here. The soundscape bears influences of his solo works of the new millennium. This CD is destined to be a classic. It will appeal to all e-music fans. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide
