Album Review
The final entry in K-Tel's five-volume set of novelty tunes features a higher quotient of original versions than their other packages. This time, the only two ringers in the bunch are new stereo recuts of Sheb Wooley's "Purple People Eater" and Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "Monster Mash." The other selections ("Witch Doctor" by David Seville, "Ahab, The Arab" by Ray Stevens, "Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus, "Kookie, Kookie [Lend Me Your Comb] by Edd Byrnes and Connie Stevens, "Baby Sittin' Boogie" by Buzz Clifford, "Dang Me" by Roger Miller, "Mr. Custer" by Larry Verne and "The Flying Saucer, Parts 1 & 2" by Buchanan and Goodman) are thankfully the original versions. If you can get past the recuts, this compilation will get a handful of these novelty tunes into your collection for a reasonable price. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
