Album Review
In the Blues with EC, Vol. 1 isn't strictly an Eric Clapton compilation: it contains some songs that he played lead guitar on. Specifically, it contains some cuts from Bobby Womack's 1986 album, Buckwheat Zydeco's '80s sessions, and Marc Benno sides from the '70s. This is a bit scattershot but there's good music here, and frankly it's a bit of a relief to have a budget-line Clapton set that isn't just cut-rate early Yardbirds or the Immediate All-Stars yet again. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
