Review

East West is a band who channels the angst of a generation into a disc that hits hard while delivering a gospel message. Fashioned somewhere between P.O.D., Project 86, and Tool, East West's first release, The Light in Guinevere's Garden, is a full-force exercise in intensity. Cuts like "Wake" and "Nepesh" offer up a full-throttle guitar attack as vocalist Mike Tubbs screams himself to oblivion. On the more melodic side tunes like "Song X" and "Closure" wander into alternative territory, echoing the cry of bands like Staind and Puddle of Mudd. The same could be said for the subdued "She Cries." Here the band opts for less distortion, featuring a guitar riff that shapes a modern rock gem. The Light in Guinevere's Garden is a disc that boasts many tasty sonic flavors, making it a satisfying spin. ~ Steven Losey, All Music Guide
