Album Review
Listeners who'd like an overview of country and pop humorist Roger Miller's works can find many of his favorite hits on Good Old Country, from his trademark "King of the Road" and "Dang Me" to "Do-Wacka-Do." Miller's gentle buffoonery on "You Can't Rollerskate in a Buffalo Herd" amiably reminds listeners that "You can't go swimmin' in a baseball pool/But you can be happy if you've a mind to." Was life really simpler then, or does everyone just like to think so looking back? Probably the latter, yet Miller's music certainly hearkens to lighter-hearted, merrier times and a stroll down memory lane can be fun -- a welcome break from more present worries. Recommended for fans of comedy, the '60s, and anyone in the mood for some easy listening grins. ~ Murrday Fisher, All Music Guide
