Album Review
Gold Regen (Gold Rain) is the sophomore studio release from Klaus Dinger's second most notable post- Neu! project. While some might argue that La Dusseldorf had nearly as much impact as the Dinger/ Rother recordings, the same type of praise is rarely afforded La! Neu? efforts like this one. experimental music fans still might find an interesting moment or two on Gold Regen. Mellow and minimalist, the record is driven by Rembrandt Lensink's dark piano arrangements and deadpan vocals courtesy of Dinger and Viktoria Wehrmeister. Listeners will surely notice that Gold Regen is an improvisational work. The tracks blend without much notice, and the occasional control-room laughter combines with some disjointed musical moments to create a behind-the-scenes feeling not unlike a soundcheck. There are enough tender, melodic moments courtesy of Lensink and Wehrmeister to balance out the album's dangerously aimless moments. And the resulting package is precious, but never too serious. Both daring and entirely natural, Gold Regen is an interesting addition to Dinger's influential oeuvre. ~ Vincent Jeffries, All Music Guide
