Time Life's Classic Country: Honky Tonk Favorites is an excellent mid-line release concentrating on such country classics from the '60s and '70s as Loretta Lynn's "Coal Miner's Daughter," Roger Miller's "Dang Me," and Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man." Although some of this material cannot really be called honky tonk (Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" chief among them), this is still a terrific sampler, since it mixes the familiar with some terrific obscurities and is available at an affordable price. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
