Hallmark's 1999 release The Legend Begins is another repackaging of the Beatles early pre-fame recordings with Tony Sheridan but, befitting its budget-label origins, it runs only eight tracks. For most bands this might seem a bit like skimping but it's not that bad in this case as the Beatles didn't have that many tracks with Sheridan so this just hits the biggest and the best, suiting the needs of fans on a budget that want to dig a little deeper than what was presented on Anthology. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
