Sony Special Products' Pure Country is an effective sampler of T.G. Sheppard's country-pop work for Columbia Records in the '80s. In fact, in many ways it works as a hits compilation of his Columbia years, since six of the featured songs -- "One for the Money," "In Over My Heart," "You're My First Lady," "Strong Heart," "Doncha?," "Half Past Forever (Till I'm Blue in the Heart)" -- were Top Ten country hits, while a few of the remaining cuts ("Fooled Around and Fell in Love," "Don't Say It With Diamonds (Say It With Love)," "You Still Do") were lesser hits.
