Album Review
Eschewing the standard hits from their vaults, this 15-track collection gathers together strong surf performances, both vocal and instrumental, from the Del-Fi vaults, much of it making its first appearance on CD. Nice novelty pieces like Bruce Johnston's "Mazatlan" and Ricky Dean's "Bikini" and "Little Betty Limbo" rub shoulders with flat-out rockers like the Gonzos' go-for-broke rendition of "Church Key," Bob Keene's "Twist and Freeze" and Preston Epps' "Bongo Beach." Not the most essential of surf compilations, but some great genre faithful along the way for your time and trouble. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
