Album Review
Funk Jazz compiles '70s fusion and instrumental funk highlights from the Polygram vaults, including tracks by Roy Ayers ("Everbody Loves the Sunshine"), Donald Byrd ("Black Byrd"), Crusaders ("Pass the Plate"), Billy Cobham ("Quadrant 4"), Quincy Jones ("Razzmatazz"), Brothers Johnson ("All About the Heaven") and the Average White Band ("Cut the Cake"). While much of this music doesn't qualify as jazz, enough of it latches on to a good, strong groove to make it an enjoyable, albiet scattershot, collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
