When one sees Blues Guitar Masters splashed on an album cover, on should expect several tracks from each of the true blues icons of the music. That Little Milton and Pat Hare are included, much less Jeff Beck with the Yardbirds, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix, and Walter Trout, one has to question the taste level of the compiler. No doubt truly great pure blues guitarists as T-Bone Walker, Magic Sam, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Elmore James, Albert and Freddy King, Albert Collins and, yes, Roy Buchanan deserve representation. Even Peter Green and Johnny Winter as a stretch are reasoned choices. With 40 selections total, there are some gaping holes, and questionable choices made on what should have been a truly dynamite collection. ~ Michael G. Nastos, All Music Guide
