Review
This compilation of live dates will only be sought by Dexter Gordon completists because of the very uneven sound. The title track has the fidelity of a 1950s aircheck, though the jam with Red Rodney on "Buzzy" and the rhapsodic version of "The Shadow of Your Smile" fare far better. Gordon is at the top of his form throughout the CD, with strong accompaniment by Kenny Drew, Niels Pedersen, and Tootie Heath and several lesser-known or unidentified musicians. ~ Ken Dryden, All Music Guide
