Bobby Troup has long been a multi-talented individual. This Star Line CD, which contains previously unissued performances from several settings, features Troup singing and playing a variety of high-quality songs, many of which he wrote. Highlights include Troup's lyrics to "Walkin' Shoes" and his hits "Daddy," "The Three Bears," "Girl Talk," and "Route 66," along with some cheerful novelties and standards. Singing in a style that is both gentle and forceful (and somehow hip for the period without sounding dated), Bobby Troup is in excellent form throughout this definitive release. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
