This melodic synthesizer music by
Gerald Jay Markoe will have you floating on a cloud.
Markoe begins the album with a just such a melody: its delicate harp seems to tiptoe past an angel choir humming a lullaby. What makes this piece "special" is a slightly thunderous bassline that blows through to embrace and ground the music. "Flying With the Angels" is a Baroque-style harpsichord concerto, with a choir singing along. On "Ancient Harp Melody,"
Markoe's stately harp melody seems to conjure an ancient courtyard.
Markoe has a keen sensitivity for orchestrating these Baroque-style pieces, and his splaces of angel magic make them especially appealing. If some tracks in the album sound familiar, they probably are, as
Markoe included three cuts from Sacred Music from the 7 Stars; they are slightly more spacious, melodic, and celestial than the album's more structured pieces. ~ Carol Wright, All Music Guide
