On Weight, the Rollins Band is able to mix the musicians' love for jazz with a blindingly direct hard rock assault, making a twisted form of metal-jazz. Henry Rollins' lyrics have also begun to move away from his relentless self-examination, adding a touch of the self-effacing humor that distinguishes his spoken records. Henry Rollins of Black Flag is ready to get down, but not afraid to put you in your place. He's pissed off at what Americans call "culture". Hard-edged rock.
