Album Review
On the verge of breaking the mainstream with 1994's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, McLachlan released this live concert as a limited edition EP to promote her North American tour. Taken mostly from Solace, these seven songs are beautiful, ambient tracks that are not complimented by their live setting. They lose the sensual drive that made their original incarnations so wonderful. The entire band gives it their all, and on certain tracks (especially "Black") they manage to capture the energy that the studio gives these songs. But for the most part, these songs are stronger on their source albums. Credit must be given for the CD booklet; it is here that each band member gets their own page-length biography that will interest fans and collectors. This is not a bad album by any means, but all of the songs found here are better elsewhere. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
