Review
The fourth of ten CDs in the Mythic Sound series of privately recorded Bud Powell performances is the least significant. Powell is heard playing solo piano quite loosely at Francis Paudras's home, the recording quality is erratic and (despite some creative outburtsts) some of the selections are throwaways. From the historic standpoint there are a few unique renditions including Powell playing (and singing) "The Christmas Song" and a brief version of "La Marseillaise." But overall this CD is strictly for Bud Powell completists. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
