Album Review
For these 1982 sessions, arranger Gerald Wilson and his big band perform three Duke Ellington compositions, "Blues, Bones and Bobby" (a feature for trumpeter Bobby Bryant), the title cut, and one departure: a funky "Getaway" which was made famous by Earth, Wind & Fire. With tenor saxophonist Ernie Watts, pianist Gerald Wiggins, trumpeter Oscar Brashear, tenorman Harold Land and (on "Don't Get Around Much Anymore") trumpeter Snooky Young taking some significant solo space, this is a highly enjoyable and consistently swinging album. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
