Album Review
Johnny Cash was a true American original, and no artist in country, or pop or rock for that matter, is even remotely similar to him, and his deep voice, easy manner, and his at times whimsical but always deeply passionate approach to music make him nothing short of a cultural icon. This set has his key early hits, including the stone cold classics "Ring of Fire," "I Walk the Line," and "Hey Porter," and while it's difficult to imagine anyone at this point who doesn't have at least a basic sense of what this artist did, it makes for a fine introduction to a musical giant. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
