Album Review
Singer Chris Connor is joined by a big band (plus strings on four of the dozen songs) arranged and conducted by Richard Wess on this out-of-print but quite worthy LP. Connor swings her way through such songs as "Witchcraft," Alec Wilder's "The Lady Sings the Blues," "How Little We Know," "Baltimore Oriole" and "Skyscraper Blues." She is particularly strong on the ballads, and this little-known gem includes plenty of mood and tempo variation. A strong effort, Witchcraft was reissued on CD in 2001 as part of the two-fer I Miss You So/Witchcraft. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
