Album Review

Giving short shrift to the long career of Ella Fitzgerald, this single CD, which does boast some excellent material, clocks in at well under 40 minutes. In the era of 80-minute CDs, this is inexcusable, and no matter the source, has to be purchased at a deep discount. Several of Ella's most famous tunes are here, like "Lover, Come Back to Me," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," "Frim Fram Sauce," "Oh, Lady Be Good," and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy." Still, much better and truly essential collections are out there. You shouldn't pay any more than a five spot for this one. ~ MIchael G. Nastos, All Music Guide
