Album Review
This brief ten-song set leads off with a stone cold Johnny Cash classic, the immortal "I Walk the Line," and while none of the other selections here rises to that level of timelessness, it's still a warm affair, and with Cash you know what you're getting before you even pop open the package. He delivers a straight but winning "You're the Nearest Thing to Heaven," does the same thing with "Train of Love," and in spite of a noticeably out of tune guitar and piano on the set closer, a version of Leadbelly's "Goodnight Irene," makes the song work. Nothing flashy here, just Johnny Cash singing love songs, but that's not a bad thing at all. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
