Album Review

Live's debut album was an impressive set of righteous, hard-driving alternative rock; Mental Jewelry was in the vein of such college-radio favorites as U2, but was more vulnerable and less sanctimonious. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Excellent freshman effort from Live. "Operation Spirit," "The Beauty of Gray," and "Pain Lies on the Riverside" are all standout tracks and shows what this band became famous for in their later sets. A solid record from Live and one well worth adding to any alternative rock collection.
