Hinge goes beyond Hinging on Excellence

"Zoubek and Bryant's Hinge is the duo's debut Cd and I must say that it is fantastic. The pure beauty of the music as well as the thoughtful song writing make this title a must have for all people who like acoustic folk music. Scott Bryant is my cousin and although I am biased and have seen the duo in concert a number of times, please trust me when I say that this album is definitely worth your time and money!"
Hand Around Your Heart

"Zoubek & Bryant are a female/male singing duo. They have a pleasant soft sound with harmony that reminds me of Seals & Crofts. Rollyn Zoubek has a pleasing vocal style that is more stoic than emotional, but still makes you want to listen as on the pretty opening track "Shifting Sand." Scott Bryant's vocals are a bit more limited in range as on the positive "Metro North," "Look higher, breathe deeper, let your spirit come alive." "Carry Me" boasts a nice melody with Rollyn's acoustic guitar strum giving a creative tension to the song that matches the disquiet of the lyric, "I've had it with these Democrats & the woman in charge of immigration; She's responsible for the bombing you know." Rollyn's "Whisper Peace" weeps as a sad lament with Wade Baynham's piano embracing the mood in this quite elegant track, "I want to take on your pain, get it out from inside; I want to hold you in my arms; put His hand around your heart, whisper peace." On "Between Friends" Rollyn lets her vocals fly as Mark Stanley joins on drums in a soft rock track. The songwriting of Scott's songs and his limited voice make tracks like "Typical Night," "Sidelines," "Pinpoint," "Whaling Town" & "Photograph" less interesting. They're not dreadful; they lack individuality. However, Rollyn Zoubek's songs and voice make some of this CD quite stunning. The photography in the booklet is lovingly done on this independent release. Enjoy!"
