Synopsis

Album Description
Zorah Staar makes "pagan pop" or "radically uplifting pagan music that rocks, bops and boogies you across the dance floor, along with some beautifully gentle ballads to catch your breath." Zorah's songs blend lyrics about love, the earth, the Goddess, and other age-old pagan themes with wild new pop, disco and Celtic rock sounds. Imagine an infectious fusion somewhere between Tori Amos and Loreena McKennitt, all esctatically played by Zorah (on guitar and piano) and the other magical musicians on her latest album (called "pagan pop").

Just Something About It...
07/30/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Zorah Staar isn't exactly a diva. Her vocals don't make the earth shake. Yet there is definitely something about her sound. Perhaps it lies right within the fact that she DOESN'T sound like she's been training all of her life. She has a very REAL quality in her voice. Oh and there's just no questioning that her lyrics are significantly moving, if somewhat simple at times. Each song stands apart from the other and the c.d. is rich in variation, especially for pop music. As a Pagan, I find Zorah's "Pagan Pop" refreshingly spiritual but fun. I can honestly say that I've never heard anything like it, and I can honestly say that I would really like to hear more."
