Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered and expanded reissue of this 1971 Hard Rock classic now featuring eight bonus tracks. In the days of Black Sabbath's flirtations with Satanism, Zior were serious practitioners of the black arts. They had insane stage shows with satanic props and played a hard-edged brand of R&B that contained hints of Prog Rock. Mason. 2006.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"What would happen if you mixed The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Uriah Heep, Donovan and Black Widow? Something similar to Zior. You can hear elements of all these groups, but Zior sounds like Zior. Hard Rockin' R&B numbers, folk, prog, heavy rock. It's all here, and very well played. Trippy, atmospheric, dark, heavy. It all fits.

The first half of this disc is what was released in '71 as simply Zior. The bonus cuts were for a second LP, left unreleased until now (to my knowledge). The first album is a trip through the nether world, dark, proggy, yet rockin'. The second album comes across as more straight up early 70's hard rock, somewhere between Toe Fat and Hard Stuff's first albums. Very enjoyable for anyone who likes the groups I've mentioned. I love this stuff, personally. '68 to '72 produced some amazing, inspired music, and this is no exception."
