CD Reviews

A truely magical voice singing from the heart.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Listening to this CD was a magical and emotional experience. This female vocalist has such a powerful, yet soothing, voice-I felt as if I were floating on a cloud-just listen to "Dancing With The Light" or "Phoenix Rising". Although the music is very eclectic (bagpipes, flutes, electric guitar, and conga drums), the unique melody that transpires throughout the CD will surely be identifiable with Zeora from here on after. Moreover, her words are also very affecting and thought provoking, such as in, for example, "Words Within Words" and "Habit or Choice". I love the way the CD unfolds artistically with different avenues of expression. I am left with a good feeling listening to this amazing woman sing."

"Zeora Sage has been making quite a name for herself with solid live performances at festivals and opening for people like David Crosby and Leon Russell. Her debut "Samsara" is a rock album with doses of folk, pop, jazz and poetry. Zeora's vocals and phrasing is somewhere between a Toni Childs and Belinda Carlisle. Her songwriting encompasses hope, anger, love, realism and spirtualism that relate to people of many walks of life. Sage's band - the Soul Shakers compliment her with the driving bite of any good rock band, but lean more toward the mellow side. Some of the album highlights include: "The Wheel Of Life", a slow dramatic type anthem with some interesting spoken word. "Habit Or Choice" has a pop feel with good substance, lyrics and piano. The rocker is "Words Within Words", which matches the energy level of a "You Oughta Know" with Zeora and guitar player Mike Garmon dueling it out. With dance video and heavy metal getting more of the airplay in recent years, it's nice to hear something different in Rock. "Samsara" is a very good disc that touches the mind and heart."
